Tennis Director
John Reed
John Reed has been at Abbey Springs since 2006. He is certified by the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) and the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA). John has taught at numerous clubs throughout Wisconsin, Illinois, and California. His career started teaching very young children this game of a lifetime and quickly he was coaching people of all ages. A former high school coach and collegiate assistant coach, he enjoys working with people of all levels. Also, a fitness enthusiast, John develops and conducts intense Cardio Tennis programs that are sure to challenge even the highest-level players. Grant Thompson
This is Grants second year at Abbey Springs. Grant specializes in high performance coaching. He has been teaching tennis since 2009 to adults and juniors of all abilities. He has worked all throughout the Midwest including coaching at Lake Zurich High School and assisting coach Mark Bey in Chicago. He also is the assistant coach for the men and women tennis teams at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. During the summers he has been a senior staff member at UWW camps since 2015.Grant began his collegiate playing career at Division I Eastern Illinois University, starting for the Panthers. He transferred to University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and played for the Warhawks for three years from 2015-18. He helped lead UW-Whitewater to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances in 2016 and 2017, serving as a captain in both years. Thompson was ranked among the nation‘s top 50 and the region’s top 10 in singles, and was regionally ranked in doubles during his tenure.
Tennins Assistant/Pickleball Coach
Daniel Wolf
Daniel has been teaching tennis and pickleball for 6 years. This is his 2nd year at Abbey Springs.Daniel’s teaching experience stems from clubs throughout the United States: Beaver Creek Resort in Colorado, Stratton Mountain Resort in Vermont, Jensen-Schmidt Tennis Academy for Down Syndrome kids in Missouri and California, and the Woodstock Club in Indiana. Daniel was formerly a collegiate player for Methodist University in North Carolina. Besides teaching tennis, Daniel has years of experience as a pickleball instructor. Daniel is certified through the Professional Tennis Registry and USPTA.
